TaeKwon-Do offers a host of benefits for children and adults alike. Getting active and feeling good about yourself builds self-esteem and confidence. Being a part of our TaeKwon-Do centre allows students to interact with each other on a different level to the home and school environment.

Here they will learn, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit, the 5 tenants of TaeKwon-Do. Not only do these tenants form the basics of being a good human, it will also help to improve social skills in a team environment and remove them from their comfort zone. It also helps the children to learn how to resolve conflict, make new friends and show compassion.

Our martial art will also assist in better co-ordination, increased flexibility and gives a full body work out. Building strength and muscle mass will assist in all other school sports activities that children participate in.

TaeKwon-Do has a child protection policy where we are able to identify neglect, physical and emotional or any other form of abuse. Anti-bullying forms part of our curriculum which is important for anyone especially children as self-defence is taught at a level that is simple to grasp should they be in a threating situation.

Starting something new can be overwhelming and even scary for children and learning how to handle certain situations in a safe and controlled environment is a lifetime benefit and will give them a form of independence.

The children will learn listening skills and respect as they move through the ranks from white belt to black belt. Respecting your instructor is an important part of TaeKwon-Do or any martial art for that matter. Children will need to listen and learn to follow instructions in order to learn new kicks, movements and other beneficial skills.

Although martial arts may be interpreted as fighting but quite the opposite is true. The aim of martial arts is to teach children peaceful, non-violent conflict resolution skills and to guild them to avoid physical altercations and only use their well taught skills if absolutely necessary. TaeKwon-Do, has a lot to offer children and gets them active, teaches confidence and how to become focused.

Learning a martial art should be taught as a basic skill for any child.
